海角社区 announces 2025 summer camps

海角社区 to Host Summer Camps for Students of All Ages

海角社区 is set to host a wide array of summer camps, catering to students from elementary through high school. Programs span disciplines including science, technology, engineering, arts and athletics, offering both educational enrichment and recreational activities.

L.I.T.E. Camp: Introduction to Engineering
Incoming seventh and eighth graders are invited to explore the world of engineering at the College of Engineering’s L.I.T.E. Camp, scheduled for June 2 to 6. The day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers hands-on activities designed to introduce students to engineering concepts and career paths. Campers will work alongside LU faculty, current engineering students and guest engineers from industry. Thanks to industry sponsorship, the camp is free for all participants. Applicants must submit a recent report card and a teacher evaluation document when applying.Project Engineer Camp

ChemE Camp
High school juniors and seniors can experience the field of chemical engineering firsthand at Lamar’s ChemE Camp, held June 9-13. Campers will participate in team-based projects, work with common industry equipment, and tour local petrochemical and pharmaceutical/food manufacturing plants. Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required, and additional PPE will be provided as needed. Students must have completed chemistry and Algebra II. A driver’s license or school ID is required for plant tours. Thanks to corporate sponsors, the camp is free, but space is limited. Applications must include a recent report card and a STEM teacher evaluation.

Governor’s Summer Merit Program STEM Camp
The Texas Academy at 海角社区 will host a commuter-only STEM camp for incoming ninth through 12th graders through the Governor’s Summer Merit Program. Sessions will be offered June 9-13, June 23-27, and July 7-11. Students will explore biotechnology, aerospace and information technology fields through lab rotations, guest lectures and hands-on activities. The camp is free for participants.

Project Engineer
Incoming ninth through 12th graders can take part in the College of Engineering’s Project Engineer Camp, set for July 21-25. This weeklong day camp will focus on robotics design and coding in a team-based environment, culminating in a competition that allows campers to showcase their skills. Students will engage with LU faculty, engineering students and guest engineers from local industry, while also visiting LU engineering labs to explore different disciplines and research opportunities. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and is free thanks to sponsorship from Chevron Phillips Chemical. Space is limited, and applications require a recent report card and a STEM teacher recommendation.

Aimed Dance Summer Fest
Students passionate about dance can attend the Aimed Dance Summer Fest, held July 7-19. The two-week program features contemporary dance classes, workshops and performances, giving students the opportunity to train and collaborate with professional dancers and choreographers. The festival is hosted by LU’s Department of Theatre and Dance. Fees vary.

STEAM Summer Art Camp
The Department of Art & Design will host the STEAM Summer Art Camp from June 16-20 for students entering grades 8 through 12. This innovative camp combines science, technology, engineering, arts and math through creative projects like printmaking and photography. Thanks to a sponsorship by the Wales Foundation, 20 students will receive scholarships to attend at no cost.

ArtSci Tech Digital Explorers Camp
Incoming sixth through 10th graders can take part in the ArtSci Tech Digital Explorers Camp, covering topics such as robotics, cybersecurity and chemistry. The camp, held June 16, 17, 18 and 20, is free of charge. However, due to high demand, it has already reached full capacity; new applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

LU Choir Camp
海角社区’s All-State Choir Camp offers incoming ninth through 12th graders the opportunity to prepare for the Texas Music Educators Association auditions. Students can choose between residential and day camp options, with expert instruction in vocal techniques and performance.

LU Summer Band Camp
海角社区’s Summer Band Camp, held June 8-12, welcomes students ages 11 to 14 for a week of musical growth and performance. Commuter campers can attend for $300, while residential campers can enjoy the full experience for $450. The camp includes instruction in various band instruments, group rehearsals and a final performance.

Cardinals in Command: A Business Camp for Future Leaders
海角社区’s Cardinals in Command business camp, held June 16-18, is a unique opportunity for students ages 14 to 18 to explore the world of business and leadership. This free, three-day camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and is designed to help future leaders develop key skills in entrepreneurship, decision-making and business strategy. Students will engage in hands-on activities and interact with professionals from the business world.

Teen Mobile Filmmaking Summer Day Camp
From June 11 to 13, high school students ages 14 to 18 can participate in a three-day creative journey at the Teen Mobile Filmmaking Summer Day Camp, presented by SWAMP and the Department of Communication and Media. For $250, students will learn to tell compelling stories using just their phones and developing hands-on skills in storytelling, lighting, editing and audio production. Lunch and two snacks are included each day.

STEM Youth Resilience Camp
海角社区’s free STEM Youth Resilience Camp offers students ages 11 to 15 the chance to build resilience through hands-on learning in robotics, computer science, science and engineering. With guidance from LU instructors, student interns and faculty mentors, campers will engage in a variety of interactive projects. Two sessions will be offered: June 30 to July 3 and July 14-18. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and is free. Space is limited.

LU Summer Baseball Camp
Summer Baseball Camps are held on various dates throughout the summer, offering both half-day and full-day options for players ages 6 to 13. Each camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon for half-day campers and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for full-day campers.

LU Baseball Showcase Camp
High school athletes ages 14 to 19 are invited to showcase their talent at 海角社区’s Baseball Showcase Camp on June 18. Running from 8 a.m. to noon, the camp is tailored for serious players looking to demonstrate their skills in front of LU coaching staff. Cost ranges from $100 to $225 depending on playing position.

Men’s Basketball Individual Skills Camp
海角社区’s men’s basketball program invites students ages 6 to 18 to join their Individual Skills Camp, designed to help young athletes develop fundamental skills in a fun and supportive environment. Campers will receive expert instruction from LU coaches and players through drills, games and skill-building activities. Two sessions will be offered: June 9-12 and June 16-19. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday. The cost is $195 per camper, with lunch provided each day except Thursday.

Men’s Basketball Elite Camp
Geared toward experienced players, the Men’s Basketball Elite Camp at 海角社区 provides high school athletes ages 14 to 18 the opportunity to train in a competitive, college-level setting. This one-day camp takes place June 25, with check-in at noon and activities running from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost is $50. Aspiring student-athletes interested in showcasing their talent are encouraged to register early, as space is limited.

Women’s Basketball Team Camp
Join us for a full day of competitive play at the LU Women’s Basketball Team Camp on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. This one-day event is open to teams with players ages 14 to 18. The cost is $250 per team, and team coaches must register in advance.

Women’s Basketball Elite Camp
Geared toward high school athletes serious about advancing their game, the Elite Camp is a one-day, high-intensity training session held June 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for players ages 14 to 18. Campers will receive expert instruction and competitive drills for $50. Participants must bring their own lunch.

Women’s Basketball Kid’s Camp
Perfect for younger athletes, the Kid’s Camp runs July 28-31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, for kids ages 5 to 14. This fun and engaging camp is $125 and focuses on skill-building and basketball fundamentals. Campers must bring their own lunch.
