First Generation Connections

first-gen-header

Welcome to the First Generation Connections program! Our goal is to ensure that all students, including first-generation, receive the tools they need to be successful at 海角社区. Being first-gen at LU means your parents or guardians did not complete a four-year college or university degree in the United States.

Research shows that the barriers to success for first-generation students are not just academic. Social, emotional, and physical barriers can be just as impactful. We invite the 海角社区 campus community to join us as we build a network for first-generation students to thrive and grow.

As the first in my family to attend college, I’ve learned to navigate uncertainty with persistence and a deep appreciation for every opportunity education provides. I’m proud to be an example for other students; to show that with hard work and community support, higher education can open doors we didn’t know were possible.
